April 4/4 Easter Sunrise Service at Pretty Place

The Assault on the Carolinas The Pisgah Forest Rotary Club to host the 11th annual event. All rides will start and finish from Brevard High School. Ride options for all levels of cyclists, so whether you're a seasoned rider or a beginner, there's going to be something there that can challenge you.

Spring Wildflower Hike - Caesar's Head State Park. Take a 1 mile walk and view Spring wildflowers. To butterflies, hummingbirds and other animals, they bring a source of food after a long winter and an opportunity for plants to reproduce. $5/participant. Pre-registration required.

5/2 Brevard Philharmonic - Celebrating Chopin's 200th Birthday. 3pm at the Paul Porter Performing Center at Brevard College. $
5/8 International Migratory Bird Day - Caesar's Head State Park. Each year approximately 340 species of birds migrate to and from North America. Learn more about the mysteries of migration and increase your birding skills.

Tour de Falls - Waterfall Van Tours - DuPont State Forest  Take a van trip into the DuPont State Forest to see three beautiful waterfalls. Great way for seniors & physically challenged people to see the waterfalls. $10 per person cash donation suggested. Refreshments will be available. This is a fundraising project for the Friends of DuPont Forest. The Friends group help maintain trails and provide support to the forestry staff.

5/15 French Broad River Clean-Up - Free breakfast & lunch for participants of this bi-annual river clean-up. Headwaters Outfitters.

7/23-7/25 Bele Chere - Asheville Street Festival. Enjoy the southeast's largest outdoor street festival. Arts & crafts, food, entertainment, interactive events, and a children’s activity area will fill the streets, drawing about 300,000 visitors throughout the three-day event. Downtown Asheville.

 

August 8/3 Walker Brothers Circus - WNC Ag Center, Fletcher, NC - $ Adults, Kids Free

 

8/7 Smokey Bear's Birthday - Cradle of Forestry. Games, singing, fire fighting equipment, birthday cake and of course, Smokey Bear. The party will last from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm with fire prevention games and activities following the festivities

9/10-9/12 5th Annual Mountain Song Festival-2010 – Brevard Music Center – 12PM-11PM – This year's mountain music festival will feature, Steve Martin, Town Mountain, Seldom Scene, David Grisman Quintet and the Steep Canyon Rangers.  Food, beverages available at the festival.  Family fun,  Tickets $35 in advance, $40 day of festival, children 10 and under free.   www.mountainsongfestival.com.

9/18-9/25 Hawk Watch - Caesar's Head State Park offers views of thousands of hawks migrating south for the winter.

 

  

 

9/24-9/26 Honda Gold Wing Rally - WNC Ag Center, Fletcher, NC. Come camp with us and take a beautiful 35 minute ride through the mountains to the rally.

 
9/25 Toy Run - Motorcycles of all types are welcome to join in this annual fundraiser. Entry fee of $10 or a toy worth $10. 11am-4pm. Proceeds to benefit Christmas Shopping for Kids in Transylvania County. Brevard Jaycees 7th annual.

Legend of Tommy Hodges - Cradle of Forestry. This outdoor drama is based on diaries from students who attended the first forestry school in America, the Biltmore Forest School. Audience members are encouraged to bring a flashlight, dress warmly, and wear comfortable walking shoes for this 1 mile-long outdoor production along the Biltmore Campus Trail.

"Flight of the Vampire" 5K The Brevard Rotary Club's annual race ends the day at dusk with a run. Download a registration form at www.brevardrotary.org.
